Apollo Art History

This pretty art history book from 1924 only set me back a few cents at a book sale.
I love the classical appearance created by the olive green, gold text, and gold seal.
It covers the origins of art to the art of the 19th Century.
Sidenote: something I love about old books is the potential for unexpected bookmarks. This recipe for "Dandy Candy"(on a strawberry card no less!) fell out of the index and made me chuckle.

Funny Face

Starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire,  Funny Face is a hilariously predictable movie from 1957 about an introspective librarian who is made into chic sensation a by a fashion magazine. The movie is glamorously filmed, the songs and dances are impressive and catchy, and the actors are believable and amusing. It's just one of those pleasant films. Here's a taste of the charm:
Kay Thompson is fabulous as the witty fashion magazine editor.
"Think pink!"
"Bonjour, Paris!"
Funny Face was Audrey Hepburn's dream come true; she got to dance with Fred Astaire.
But the glamour doesn't always go as planned...

Recent Thrift: Leather Purse

My mom bought this purse at Value Village for $3 and I have since absconded with it. It has a convenient zippered pocket on the back, and the main pocket with the flap is the perfect size for a water bottle, snack, and notepad. The leather is so buttery soft, and it's the perfect caramel color. The bag has stains and scuffs--but hey, they add to the charm. It has come in handy for hands-free thrifting and hiking excursions.

Parasols

My Parasols fabric is in Spoonflower's Umbrella-themed challenge of the week. The design was created with watercolor and marker illustration. I would love to see it on some silk.

Recent Thrift: Pink Pleat Blouse

I found this linen Laura Ashley top at Value Village for $6. The buttons up the back and pleats are lovely.
